Volunteer

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve..."

Mark 10:45

A growing follower of Christ is a serving follower of Christ.  We believe that in order to truly be obedient in following Christ, we must participate in His call to serve others.  Our goal is 100% participation in the area of service, meaning that we desire to see all our people serving (using their God-given gifts and abilities) in God's Kingdom.  There are  many opportunities for you to volunteer and serve your church and community.  It is our goal to parter with you to help you find a place to serve where you will thrive.

Volunteer Testimonials

Lauren Lindsey (Rise MS)

"Serving helps me to connect with the heart of Jesus.  By taking the focus off myself, I'm given a glimpse into the way Jesus sees and loves those around me."

JoAnn & Carter Rup (Greenhouse)

"We like in the Greenhouse because it's fun.  We get to  serve these little guys and their parents by playing, cuddling, and teaching the basics about God!"

Serve at Seymour Heights

Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.

One of our primary responsibilities as a church is to "equip the saints for the work of ministry"  (Ephesians  4:12). We take this responsibility seriously and want everyone at SHCC to realize that blessings of serving in the body of Christ.  We have numerous ministries and opportunities to serve, both on Sunday and throughout the week.  We would love to talk more with you about the blessings of service and how you can make an impact upon your church and community.

Volunteer FAQ's

Why should  I volunteer?

Volunteers are the heartbeat of SHCC.  Every weekend it takes scores of volunteers to make ministry happen.  So, we need you!   Serving  allows you to use your God-given abilities to make a difference, and it  is  a great way to connect with others and make a big church seem much smaller.

What is expected of me as a volunteer?

Expectations vary from role to role; however, we can assure you that specific responsibilities will be communicated and you will be set up for success in your role.  The most important thing you can do as a volunteer is to show up and be ready to serve when scheduled.

How do I find the best place to serve?

For some, jumping right in and trying out different areas of service may work best, and we welcome you to try  different ministries without the need to commit.  For others, you may find our SERVE class to be helpful as we explore how God created each of us to serve.

What is the time commitment?

Whether you have one or twenty hours to give, we have opportunities that will fit your availability.  We have monthly, bi-monthly, and weekly options that vary depending upon ministry and your availability.   We will do our best to be flexible and commit to helping you find a place where you can thrive.
